A realistic police drama of a veteran police officer's confrontation with faith
The Templeton Police Department is in the midst of its annual Christmas robbery season. During his patrol duties, veteran Officer Jeramy Doodeman witnesses numerous situations demonstrating other people’s faith through signs of the seeds of faith. A series of robberies comes to a climax when Templeton police officers have an armed confrontation with Piper, a small-time hold-up man, at the very same time that Jeramy is confronting his faith in God.
Among other characters, Detective Derek Wilson is a policeman who, oddly enough, is uncomfortable with confrontation and has his lack of confidence and bravery put to the ultimate test. Meanwhile, Officer Teresa O’Brian, a sassy Irish policewoman, is frustrated with the juvenile antics of some fellow officers. Gil, a small-time thief, finds his Gran dead and fearing the police will blame him for her death, disposes of her body in an usual way.
The author is a retired police officer with 37 years of experience. During your read through Sign of the Seed, he will take you on patrol, bring you along on a foot pursuit and then a vehicle pursuit. You will join him at an autopsy and be there as he investigates a suicide by hanging. Sign of the Seed is full of real-life police action. While the story is gritty, what it lacks in gratuitous sex scenes and raunchy cursing, is well made up for with compelling situations and easy humor. If you think you might enjoy a story including counterfeit cheeseburgers, privacy fence jumping heroics, toilet tumblers, poultry perpetrators, or characters such as a one-legged, basement-dwelling boyfriend of an exotic dancer, this novel might be for you.
